And then Olmo, you know, gave music to the Teleri.

And it's just like there's times when it feels like a list of people and places.

I think I like about it is that it has to do the thing – that a lot of myths and legends and histories of this do do, which is because they're talking to an audience that is presumably aware of, for instance, the existence of the Teleri, which are a type of elf, they just start using the word Teleri before the Teleri have entered The story, you know what I mean? When they're talking about Olmo, they're like, the Teleri learned a lot of music from Olmo.

They don't stop at the Teleri, which are this type of elf.

Let the ships burn.

Then Maedhros alone stood aside, but Feanor caused fire to be set to the white ships of the Teleri.

So in that place, which was called Losgar, at the outlet of the Firth of Drengist, ended the fairest vessels that ever sailed the sea in a great burning, bright and terrible.

And Fingolfin and his people saw the light afar off, red beneath the clouds, and they knew that they were betrayed.

So the tree made in the image of Telperion was in the primary city of the Vanyar and the Noldor, and then later just the Noldor, the Vanyar moved to be closer to the Valar, in Valinor, in their city Tirion upon Tuna.

And a seedling of that tree was planted on Tol Eressëa, that island off the coast of Valinor that the Teleri initially lived on before moving to Alqualondë, and the place that all ships first stopped when they arrived from the east.

And the tree on that island, Tol Eressëa, was the one that was called Celeborn.

Now later, after the fall of Morgoth and the creation of the land of Numenor, we read this in the Silmarillion.

Olwe told Feanor the ships were irreplaceable, the work of his people's hearts.

But Feanor stole them anyway, and the Noldor went north through the unmeasured dark with Telerin blood on their hands.

Then we get the dark figure on the rock above the shore, Mandos, speaking the doom of the Noldor, and that's where we'll start.

"'Tears unnumbered ye shall shed, and the Valar will fence Valinor against you and shut you out, so that not even the echo of your lamentation shall pass over the mountains.' On the house of Feanor the wrath of the Valar lieth from the west unto the uttermost east, and upon all that will follow them it shall be laid also.

Not only does he graciously grant dwarves a certain free will by the flame imperishable, but through the creation of the dwarves, other magnificent creatures come into being as a way of counterbalancing their existence.

The Teleri In chapter 3 of The Silmarillion, we learn that the first elves awoke in Cuiviénen, and that the first sound that was heard by them was the sound of water flowing and the sound of water falling over stone.

Ulmo, Lord of the Waters, is the first of the Ainur to speak to the elves.

After a great battle in which the forces of Melkor are defeated and the path westward from Cuiviénen made safer, the Valar summon the elves to Valinor in the interest of protecting them from the dangers of the wider world.

These are thereafter known as the Avari, the unwilling.

Of those that decide to make the journey, they are divided into three groups.

The Vanyar, fair elves, the Noldor, deep elves, and the Teleri, sea elves.

Of these three groups, Tolkien makes clear that the Teleri have a special relationship with music and water.

When he judged that his strength was enough, he went to the haven of the swans and began to man the ships that were anchored there and to take them away by force.

But the Teleri withstood him and cast many of the Noldor into the sea.

Then swords were drawn and a bitter fight was fought upon the ships and about the lamplit keys and piers of the haven and even upon the great arch of its gate.

Thrice the people of Feanor were driven back, and many were slain upon either side.

But the vanguard of the Noldor were succored by Fingon, with the foremost of the host of Fingolfin, who, coming up, found a battle joined and their own kin falling, and rushed in before they knew rightly the cause of the quarrel.

Some thought, indeed, that the Teleri had sought to waylay the march of the Noldor at the bidding of the Valar.

Thus, at last, the Teleri were overcome, and a great part of their mariners that dwelt in Alqualonde were wickedly slain.

For the Noldor were become fierce and desperate, and the Teleri had less strength, and were armed for the most part, but with slender bows.

There's three Sundarings that are important.

There's the Vanya, the Noldor, and the Teleri.

Basically, to brutally summarize, the Vanya, they are like the first ones to make the journey to go to the Undying Lands.

The Noldor are the second

ones.

You could call them the most eager of the lot.

yeah the vanya and the noldor they all heed the call and they go to the undying lands the tellery don't all heed the call actually the majority don't some of them do heed the call they're called the famari and they're kind of like a sea faring type of elf people that live on this kind of little special island and on the mainland of the undying lands uh Let's put aside the Noldor and the Vanir for now, because the Teleri are kind of more important.

Those of the Teleri that decide to stay back, they end up forming other groups, and other groups, there's the Sindar and the Nandor, who will become, eventually in the Third Age, the Silvian Elves and the Lakandi, so we're talking like Legolas, you know, the Mirkwood Forest Elves and stuff.
