Andrew T. SmithHOST

But predates toy story.
Andrew T. SmithHOST
40:22
Um, and then probably his biggest commercial success was he was the producer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 87 through to 96.
Andrew T. SmithHOST
40:29
Um, And just for JP, he also produced the animated series James Bond Jr. Fabulous.
John Paul GreenHOST
40:37
Yeah.
Chris LaMartinaGUEST
14:27
That's absolutely right.
Chris LaMartinaGUEST
14:28
And it was kind of funny because I could only compare it to like the live action like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, right? Which like Toxic Crusaders was kind of like a ripoff of, I say ripoff in quotes, like to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the cartoon, and then like...
Chris LaMartinaGUEST
14:42
You know, ultimately, I imagine, oh, because it's live action, it's not for kids as much.
Chris LaMartinaGUEST
14:47
Like, surely there's some things that they're going to take artistic liberties with.
Alex RobsonHOST
14:33
I probably butchered that, but there we go.
Alex RobsonHOST
14:36
He's also Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, and he's Leonardo in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series.
Alex RobsonHOST
14:45
Okay, those are pretty cool ones, right? Yeah, and he's just a random paramedic in this.
Alex RobsonHOST
14:48
It's like, that's Leonardo for about five seconds.
Morgan GleaveHOST
13:50
Were they ninja? Yeah.
Morgan GleaveHOST
13:52
For a long time they were called the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because they said Ninja was too violent.
Morgan GleaveHOST
13:58
So now they're known as, even in the cartoons that are marketed at kids, it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Eliza Murray-ChamberlainHOST
14:05
I'm assuming that most kids haven't got a clue what a ninja is.
MaddyHOST
15:17
And
ThemeHOST
15:18
then his Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle duvet just goes...
MaddyHOST
15:25
Damn, man.
MaddyHOST
15:26
But yeah, because you never know.
Graham RaddingsHOST
41:27
So what about you for number five?
Adrian MillsHOST
41:29
My number five was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I think is a great tune.
Adrian MillsHOST
41:34
Teenage Mutant

Yeah, it didn't speak to me that.
Steve HillHOST
16:36
I don't know what cartoon Krang was a part of.
Steve HillHOST
16:38
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Steve HillHOST
16:40
Not in the top five, but part of the list.
Steve HillHOST
16:41
Oh, he was one of the two henchmen that
CrossyHOST
14:10
Here we go.
CrossyHOST
14:14
Name two of the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.
DanielleAUDIENCE
14:19
Donatello and Raphael.
CrossyHOST
14:21
What was the name of the storm overnight? Was it Austin or Alexander?
Nick KirkHOST
7:23
No.
Nick KirkHOST
7:24
If you grew up in the UK, and certain other parts of Europe as well, you grew up watching a cartoon called teenage mutant hero turtles yes this was due to there being a lot of controversy around ninjas at the time which feels like an absolutely insane thing to say and also the banning of weapons like nunchucks in the uk which meant that any depiction or mention of them would have to be removed so yes we had a specially edited version of the show the theme tune itself was re-recorded to include the word hero instead of ninja as well as that being depicted as the title on screen and any shots of Michelangelo using his nunchucks were edited out with also the word ninja throughout the episode being edited possibly sometimes quite clumsily I would imagine I mean, it does seem mad now, nearly 40 years on, that just the word ninja could be controversial.
Nick KirkHOST
8:18
I mean, I've said it several times in this podcast already.
Nick KirkHOST
8:21
So if this were the 80s, we would be banned.
LukeHOST
9:59
And of course, two and a half men, but he's had so much success.
LukeHOST
10:03
And I, am I remembering this correctly? He wrote the theme song to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the cartoon from the eighties.
JasonHOST
10:11
Is that right? I'm
LukeHOST
10:12
pretty sure that's true.
