And Angleton is gonna become a great friend and protector of Philby, even though there are warning signs in this period.

So one day Ted Kollek, who's a visiting Israeli official, and Angleton deals with the Israelis a lot, bumps into Philby in the CIA headquarters.

And afterwards Ted Kollek, this Israeli, goes to Angleton.

He says, "What is Philby doing walking around CIA headquarters?" And Angleton goes, "Well, Kim's a very good friend of ours." And Kollek goes, "Well, I was at his wedding in 1934 in Austria to a communist." [laughs] And he goes, "Maybe you shouldn't trust him." But Angleton kind of ignores it because, you know, this guy's his friend and he trusts him.

This was, just to remind listeners, this was the root of your sympathies for the young Philby throughout our prior series, which was that he had a sort of youthful-

The park is located in a spot Angleton visited and admired in the early nineteen sixties when it bordered on the barbed wire fence that divided the city.
