Team Alpha Male

I trained with Mike Malott over a decade ago at Alpha Male.

What? Yeah, he was at Team Alpha Male.

No way.

He wasn't in the UFC yet.

He's not, dude.

He hasn't fought, he hasn't trained out of Team Alpha Male in years, you know?

Okay.

Well, yeah, I, I can do that.

And when we say that was a mistake, he just wasn't updated [laughs] in years.

Like, does it get...

Someone just mentioned he's in, uh, Team Alpha Male, but he was their coach for years.

He, I think he was their striking coach, right? All those guys.

Uh, or was the...

I think it was the, actually the grappling coach, if I'm not mistaken, at, um, Team Alpha Male, which is one of the, the bigger camps in mixed martial arts out in Sacramento.

So he, after basically during COVID was, was coaching fighters, decided, "You know what? I'm gonna, I'm gonna get back into this.

I wanna, I wanna compete again." And after kind of, like, hitting the pause button on his career, came back and was just running through people, um, because he's got incredible finishing instincts, he's got a high fight IQ, and he has the eyes of a coach from coaching.

He's being pegged as a potential future Canadian star.

He's got the background of being, uh, the head coach, I think, of Team Alpha Male, their head wrestling coach, even though I've never seen him kind of-

... publicly execute a grappling plan.

So I don't know what he's teaching the guys at Team Alpha Male who obviously a renowned wrestling camp.

Yeah.

What he, what he, what he's doing.

Yeah.

And what led to that? I know you're still with Danny, who's associated with Team Alpha Male, Danny Castillo, but why did you feel the need to do that?

Alpha Male is always going to be home.

Now we're going for number six.

It was crazy.

Uh, he was the young guy from Team Alpha Male.

And he's also the, the only one from Team Alpha Male with moves that aren't the overhand on the feet.

Malcolm Wellmaker's loss to Tanz- uh, Tanzilovi, uh, that, that's the way it's being addressed.

I mean, it's also Tanzilovi's win.

He's got knockout power, but he's also got some wrestling chops.

He, he went to the States and studied with, with Team Alpha Male to develop his wrestling game a little bit.

Um, and he, the, he has struggled, like obviously with Neil Magny, who is a much bigger striker, but m- but Neil Magny is a very good spoiler because his height and his range is, is complicated for most guys.

On the other hand, against guys like Kevin Holland, Malott has won.

He's got a 74-inch reach, which is good.

And, you know, he's coming out of Team Alpha Male.

He's been around there for a while.

Kamaka, you know, less of a reach.
