We did a little thread on Twitter.

We picked a few games and we predicted that they would... be involved in a cup set and they were, obviously beating Queen's Park at Stair Park on penalties but then you had the drama of the ineligible player, they get booted from the Scottish Cup, this season they're flying, they've just gone through in the Scottish Cup, difficult game at home to Tayport and now they've got Clackna Cuddon at home in the Scottish Cup as well so I know that's an opportunity for Stranraer to make it and hopefully make amends for what was a bit of a disaster last season but what a club man what a team it's brilliant to see similar motives to any just maybe a club I don't know I keep saying that they're punching above their weight I don't know if Stranraer are doing well in Scottish League 2 is them punching above their weight but when you consider the teams that were in League 2 last season and maybe the money that they were spending and then the squads that they had when we started properly paying attention to Stranraer it felt like they were really punching above their weight maybe this season it's not quite the same because the teams in League 2 are maybe a little bit more evenly matched across the board but still the job that Chris Aitken's doing down there is fantastic

No, absolutely brilliant.
CallumHOST
41:21
And I think one thing you can say is you sort of brought up that Scottish Cup tie there unrelated.
Marcus SpellerHOST
20:33
Obviously, it's not.
Marcus SpellerHOST
20:34
So, on the 21st of November, they're due to play against Tayport in the Scottish Communities Cup third round at 2.30 kick-off.
Marcus SpellerHOST
20:42
But then they host Dunipass, 65 miles away.
Marcus SpellerHOST
20:45
Forgive my pronunciation for any of these.
Marcus SpellerHOST
20:47
I'm pretty sure Tayport is correct 65 miles away in the lowland league cup first round at 3 p.m now the situation has risen because neither of their opponents were sort of willing to shift from the saturday on saturday afternoon kickoff times now that does suggest stubbornness and a little bit of you know apparently come on but apparently I quote the article, all options were explored and they just simply because of the fixture pile up or whatever, they couldn't do it.
Marcus SpellerHOST
21:14
Fixture pile up
Luke MooreHOST
21:15
already in November.
Jim CampbellHOST
21:21
There's an incredible quote from the club themselves about this.
Stevie FarrellGUEST
65:48
They had played two games in the same day, which is probably even more bizarre in terms of player safety and player welfare a few weeks ago.
Stevie FarrellGUEST
65:56
So that was an option for us and that was put to both Tayport and Donny Pace.
Stevie FarrellGUEST
66:01
They weren't obliged to do anything that we wanted and put to them.
Stevie FarrellGUEST
66:04
So they...
Gordon DuncanHOST
68:19
doing, Stevie.
Gordon DuncanHOST
68:20
It's now over to you, Stevie, as well, to logistically figure out not only the logistics, but the sporting side of this, the football side of it.
Gordon DuncanHOST
68:28
So, Tayport... against Johnston Borough and Dunny Pace against Johnston Borough clearly different places at the same time what are you I don't know if you're willing to give the game plan away but we were kind of speculating about this the other night is that a case of sending like the first team somewhere and the under 20s somewhere else or is the plan to do a mixture of both and kind of spread the strength how have you even gone about planning this because it's never a decision that a football club has to make
Stevie FarrellGUEST
68:55
Well, I think, I mean, 22 players of a first-team squad, I mean, Scotland knows sitting beside you, that's what most clubs at this level, even in League Two, carry.
Christian WhiteHOST
56:36
Of course, we could all trust Wikipedia, right? He's a Scotsman who fasted for 382 days.
Christian WhiteHOST
56:43
From the 14th of June of 1965 to the 30th of June 1966, he subsisted on tea, coffee, sparkling water, vitamins, and yeast extract while living at home in Tayport, Scotland.
Christian WhiteHOST
56:55
And wow.
Christian WhiteHOST
56:57
So yeah, he basically went, I mean, I think about, yeah, about a year more or less of just like not eating solids at least.
Kate MollesonHOST
24:47
When did you first cross paths with Douglas Dunn?
Don PatersonGUEST
24:52
It would have been sort of in the late 80s I had just started to write poetry and rather ambitiously having just read Elegies decided I'd write to Donne and see if he would look at some of my poems and I found out a kind of Jungian twist that he was living in Tayport where my parents are from so I thought this is auspicious so he very kindly agreed to look at some of my stuff.
Don PatersonGUEST
25:14
So I turned up on his doorstep and tapered with my poems in my hand and he made me lunch and I promptly threw up.
Don PatersonGUEST
25:21
I was so terrified of eating them.
PGHOST

He should be in the house contemplating what's happened, looking at how he can put this right instead of being out on the bevy the day.
Johnny BaileyHOST
16:39
So, Dundee Downfield are sitting 8th in the Midlands League just now, so they've got East Craig's, Broughty Athletic, Carnoustie, Tayport, Blair Gowery, Dundee North End, all above them, so they're not a bad side, do you know what I mean? Played 13 games already this season, won 6, drawn 1 and lost 6, so, do you know what I mean? I'm
PGHOST
16:58
not sure I know.
PGHOST
17:00
A mixed bag team then?
Callum LawPANELIST
21:55
So they've been, I'm sure they've been gutted, not just to go out, but the manner of how they played and to be beaten 4-0.
Callum LawPANELIST
22:02
And then the other, the last game to mention was Wick Academy losing 3-0 away to Tayport.
Callum LawPANELIST
22:09
And really, Wettkank from being in the game at 0-0 after half an hour left just gave themselves too much to do by losing two frankly abysmal goals really like preventable just sort of defensive mistakes mix-ups cost them 2-0 down and they were never really able to recover from that so that was frustrating for the The score is clearly, and there's a few, that's the teams that were knocked out, and certainly some of us, like, you know, well beaten but some as well a few disappointments or hard luck stories or frustrating stories within there as well it's a shame and you you pipped me in the predictions last week as well you said we'd get seven three so why are
Paul ThirdHOST
22:56
you getting your four in early I

Paul ThirdHOST
24:21
That's it for this week's show.
