So so this is I think there are a variety of unintended consequences that come off with this with this legislation.
Jeff BrandesGUEST
15:58
One being this huge tax shift to being you're going to have cities that can't survive this.
Jeff BrandesGUEST
16:04
Like there are cities that I mean, I think Bowling Green, which is a city in Hardy County, I think it has only 20 homes.

over the cap after the if this were to pass right so they're just like we're done we're just going to send us our deincorporation documents we can't afford to be a city anymore and they've got seven police officers in one garbage truck what are they what are they gonna cut guys right so uh they're they're just not they're just not a viable and and maybe we should have that conversation anyways maybe maybe florida doesn't need 411 cities maybe we go out and say guys listen we're going to call this thing back to 350 or 300 and we have kind of a you know a real tough conversation with 100 of our cities and say, listen, you're going to be consolidated into the county or you must join another city by this date.

Let me ask you this.
Jessica VaughnHOST
13:18
The other concern that I've heard is that it's really just going to be a tax shift.
Jessica VaughnHOST
13:24
That while people are looking for relief now, as we've seen in education, as it's been underfunded, we've had to, as you know, this... school district has had to go out and levy additional taxes, whether it's a sales tax, or whether it's a referendum with the property taxes.
Jessica VaughnHOST
13:41
And so what I've heard is local municipalities are going to be forced to, with the loss of this money, supplement it somehow, and they're going to have to levy additional taxes.
Jessica VaughnHOST
13:52
And so while it may be a temporary tax break on the state level property taxes, you're going to see more taxes come forward because it's such a loss of revenue, again, for our vital services that we're not going to be able to sustain without it.
Jessica VaughnHOST
14:08
So what I've heard is it's really just going to be a tax shift.
Jessica VaughnHOST
14:11

Bob HenriquezGUEST
14:13
Well, potentially that's the case.
