Tavien St. Clair

Like they've just given me the motivation to keep going.

What is your relationship been like with Tavien? Obviously, you guys, the two incoming kids, you came in together.

You know, I'm sure you worked with him before this time.

Oh yeah.

Fontaine.

Yeah.

I was working with, uh, I knew his he- head coach, and he invited me to come and run routes, and I actually ran routes for Tavien before I even knew who he was exactly.

And then like, uh, when we first came in here, we, we had a lot more, uh, we got got together, us the freshman class, and just growing and just working on everything.

Um, him and Lincoln both, um, you know, are, are in that phase where they've earned that respect, and so they're doing a really good job leading right now.

And, and Tavien's doing a good job earning respect.

Um, so we're, we're kind of in the middle right there between those, those two phases.

Billy, uh, Lincoln is I, I think still less than two years into, like, just specializing in football.

Um, you know, and, and you know, the one thing that's pretty cool is those guys are very competitive and they push each other hard and they're, you know, they're ultimately really good for each other because they both make each other uncomfortable because, you know, they're both very good players.

Um, you know, and, and Tavien's right there with them, um, included in that mix.

And, and above all of that, they're still friends.

You know, I think what's pretty cool right now is just, you know, you walk into that quarterback room and you got a bunch of really, really good guys, um, that all get along well and, and you know, are willing to help each other out and give each other pointers and tips if they see something.

I would agree with that.

Uh, my next guy I'm waving the white flag on is Tavien St. Clair.

I feel pretty confident in that, just for the record.

They're still working on it.

But anyway, um, I... point being, I don't know when we're gonna see Tavien St. Clair.

I think he's gotta transfer out.

Um, whereas Ball State kind of left the starters out there much longer.

Um, but then you also saw on Tavien St. Clair, because he didn't let the ball out of his hands on time, he gets hit, he throws short, and it's an interception.

And so everything unfolds almost perfectly.

If Ryan Day's sitting back saying, "Man, uh, we need the fans to understand why we're doing this," which I doubt Ryan Day cares that much about that, but if he did, we all got to see it right then and there.

We saw the poise of the true freshman Fahey, and we saw this is why this other guy who's uber talented and had all the high rankings hasn't gotten on the field as much or ahead of the true freshman, and it was all right there.

Yeah.

I mean, the conversation amongst Buckeye nerds like us already is, you know, is Tavien St. Clair, and old heads know this name, is Tavien St. Clair gonna go the way of like a Joe Pickens?

But, like, Timmons, we knew about that.

I didn't know Luke Fahey was gonna push Tavien St. Clair for the number two job, let alone win it backs.

Yeah, that's a big deal
