Taskmaster

I hear that, but I feel like we have to throw a flag on the play here because Liolas actually highlights a massive caveat in the article that proves this isn't, you know, a foolproof formula.

We have to look at the Taskmaster backlash from the Black Widow movie.

Taskmaster was largely unknown to the general movie-going public.

Total blank check scenario, right?

On paper, yes.

Right, the soul of the character.

So it has some lasting effects.

I mean, we may not ever see that Taskmaster again, or we may.

It really was just small potatoes.

Taskmaster, I think, is a cool character, but they really did her dirty in this movie.

I know Taskmaster in the comics and everywhere else is a guy.

They turned Taskmaster into a girl in this, which they still could have had the really cool, quippy, kind of snarky Taskmaster that we've seen in some of the other things.

But no, they just turned her into a puppet.

We've got Taskmaster and stuff like that.

And Crossbones got the Skull Mask.

So I was like, what would be scary? What's the internet scary, sort of the creepypasta sort of look these days? And that was kind of the way I leaned in.

This is, maybe he's like, he's no longer really copying heroes, he's, like, creating heroes in this school, and that doesn't bother him, the fact that he is training people who will eventually try to take him out in the future, right? H- he- he's like, "Yeah, these guys might arrest me later, but right now I'm getting paid, this is a job, and I like doing this." So, uh, you know, he gets his paycheck, that's really all that matters, so.

Which is kind of classic Tony Masters.

That, um, Marvel's actual rip-off of, of, um, Deathstroke is actually Taskmaster?

The other thing I loved is this was grounded.

I like the fact that they kill off Taskmaster.

So we know that all of these characters are expendable.

The crisis that they're dealing with are not this massive cosmic it's, you know, shootouts in a crappy 80s limousine and, you know, like, it felt refreshing from the cosmic multi dimensional universe shattering drama that every single Avengers movie has brought us recently.

Taskmaster didn't have superpowers, they were just a robot.

They were just programmed by whatever this memory serum is.

This chip.

It's a little awkward because William Hurt is in kind of like the final years of his life at this point.

He considers her a fugitive of the state due to where she stood on the Sokovia Accords.

But Yelena is basically on a mission in Morocco that ends up exposing her to a kind of mist that undoes... drakov's chemical conditioning that all the widow agents are under she basically has the antidote for a specific mental conditioning that's basically programmed all of them to be brainwashed to do whatever the red room forces them to do um so now that she's gone clear she is sending this same gas to natasha romanoff for safekeeping because this is a game changer right if all widow agents can be freed this way that undoes the full power of the red room and drakov um But she's unaware that Dracov would be sending an assassin named Taskmaster.

We don't know who Taskmaster is at the beginning of this movie.
