Targum Pseudo-Jonathan

Okay, the book of Jude, it refers to this story of Satan and Michael getting into a fight over the body of Moses.

Well, to get the background on that story, you have to go to the Targum Pseudo-Jonathan.

It's another piece of Second Temple literature.

And we don't even have that today, actually.

The Targum says, [Hebrew].

The Ba'al HaTurim quotes the Targum, which we don't have, Targum Yerushalmi, [Hebrew], the desire.

And we know that Moshe, the...

Moshe is [Hebrew], the Klal Yisrael.

But one of the interesting things that came up was Memra, which is something that Cody brought up in the first half of this episode.

And so Targum Pseudo-Jonathan says...

The memra of Yahweh first causes gracious showers to descend for repentance on Sodom and Gomorrah and afterwards sends sulfur and fire.

So it's interesting because the same idea is in both for memra in the Targums, but it's completely different.
