Tim KjellesvikHOST
6:26
that's coming up.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
6:27
I, of course, I'm still dealing with my typical target panic issues.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
6:32
That's why I was just, I met up with the guy that helps me with, with, with, my bow and he's, he's more or less a coach for me.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
6:39
And yeah, it's weird.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
9:53
pulled the
Matt DruryHOST
9:53
trigger just
Tim KjellesvikHOST
9:54
to kind of help get rid of the target panic.
Matt DruryHOST
9:55
Yep.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
51:20
Yeah, that's liver and gut.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
51:22
The reason why I didn't stop this one is because of, well, probably the exact reason why I missed the deer, a little bit of target panic.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
51:30
But I'm like, I've never been the greatest at, I don't have a lot of, I've never been very good at shooting something and killing it.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
51:39
I'm still growing in that.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
52:04
So I'm a really good shot.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
52:06
And, uh, but when it comes to shooting animals, I just don't have that, you know, this is that pressure that gets to your head.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
52:15
And when you just get that target panic, um, So in my head, this deer is out at 30 some yards and he's just walking just real slow, kind of just head down and kind of had this little limp to him.
Jameson CurtisGUEST
52:27
And I actually have it on our Wild at Heart page.
Curt GeierGUEST
54:57
Yeah.
Curt GeierGUEST
54:58
And that's all, like, forms of target panic.
Curt GeierGUEST
55:01
And honestly, I think – I don't have – Bad, bad target panic.
Curt GeierGUEST
55:07
But I will get to a point, shooting, especially now, not shooting as much as I normally do, where I got to just work out the cobwebs a little bit, where, like, my pen will be floating, and then I do get that subconscious, dump it, dump it, now, now, now.
Curt GeierGUEST
55:20
And I think I'm going to go back and shoot this for a little while and see if that fixes it.
Curt GeierGUEST
59:13
Like the panic of the deer walking, like, I could see that.
Curt GeierGUEST
59:18
It has probably cost me some shot opportunities, but I think when I've shot deer and made good shots, I think a release like this has helped me through a lot of... high stress situations yeah my own brain you know right sure oh i actually saw i i found this thing i'm like man i don't know what i did with that release well i have my little desk right here i'm like shit it's been sitting here so the whole thing needing to get it out so i'm glad we're talking about because i'm putting it on the desk so i'm gonna switch releases and shoot and just have some fun i'm glad i
Nate ThomasHOST
59:44
could do that for you yeah and luckily i uh got another i don't want to talk about this too much because i don't want to jinx myself but I have never experienced what people talk about when they talk about target panic.
Ken LibertonGUEST
17:25
I got a couple of them, so.
Neil CooleyHOST
17:26
Is it more of a aiming reference for you on the target panic side, or is it... 'Cause a lot of the people don't realize the older round wheel bows, they're pretty spongy on the back end.
Ken LibertonGUEST
17:37
Yeah.
Neil CooleyHOST
17:37
So you could be at full draw and creep a little bit.
Adam BrookeGUEST
25:29
just jacking.
Adam BrookeGUEST
25:30
And this guy over here, he's rolling a hinge because he's had target panic for five years.
Adam BrookeGUEST
25:34
And he's watching every YouTube video known to man.
Adam BrookeGUEST
25:37
And this kid over here, he's just punching a trigger, killing deer, loving life.
Adam KeithHOST
26:36
Just
Adam BrookeGUEST
26:36
take it –
Adam KeithHOST
26:37
I've said a lot that I feel like target panic.
Adam KeithHOST
26:40
I get target panic the more I shoot.
Matt DruryHOST
13:59
The problem is if your sequence, if you're having problems with any part of your sequence, it makes every shot.
Matt DruryHOST
14:07
hard yeah i was talking to him off camera before i'm struggling again with target panic for some reason i i have a history of punching the trigger here in the last couple years just a bad habit of it and um i find myself trying to count once i put my finger like it's almost impossible for me to take my index finger and get it out because i shoot a um copper style release aid And to get my finger over on the trigger once I do it, like mentally, it's like, I got to shoot.
Matt DruryHOST
14:38
It's got to happen.
Matt DruryHOST
14:38
I got to shoot.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
16:45
You don't like that ceiling.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
16:47
Nope.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
16:47
Well, speaking of like target panic stuff, Sophie's been shooting out in the backyard quite a bit.
Tim KjellesvikHOST
16:53
She wants to hunt the vertical bow this year.
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
8:25
Yeah, and I was just...
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
8:27
I was messing around with target panic and expectations and things.
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
8:32
And I was shooting pretty well, but I had a hard time handling the pressure, so...
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
8:38
Yeah, so that was that.
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
10:03
now, and I think I think the problem was that coming from the European 3d championships in October And then heading right into the Leo Invitationals, I had like two or three weeks to get something new running.
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
10:19
I thought that I had a good system running, but it just wasn't forgiving enough.
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
10:25
And then came the target panic, hitting me like a train.
Oliver OckenholtGUEST
10:29
I was having major problems with being stuck.
Joel TurnerGUEST
8:31
Well, the story is I started elk hunting, you know, I grew up in Washington state and you don't get a lot of opportunities in that state.
Joel TurnerGUEST
8:37
Like you get one, maybe two shots a year when you're, you know, I was 14 years old, complete target panic mess, got to hunt.
Joel TurnerGUEST
8:49
You know, I grew up in a little log in town and one of my buddies had probably the greatest elk property in the whole area.
Joel TurnerGUEST
8:58
so I got to hunt with him we grew up hunting together and it was frustrating man like I could call these things in I started out calling when I was 12 and I just got kind of lucky there I guess you know sticking that mouth read my mouth for the first time and and actually was able to make sounds with it didn't gag on anything like that so so that worked out pretty good and and I didn't know anything about elk calling but I loved hearing that bugle and man it was I You know, we'd go to Friday night football games and we'd hang out and then we'd go to his house.

55 MINS LATER

Weston HomaHOST

And as we wrap up here, I just want to say too, as we're talking about shot execution, just wanted to say as well with that, appreciate everything you've put out there.
Weston HomaHOST
64:45
Just me personally with watching some of your stuff.
Weston HomaHOST
64:48
I don't think I've really ever suffered from this target panic.
Weston HomaHOST
64:53
but just listening to you over the years has definitely opened my mind up to a lot more things.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:46
You're okay with it.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:47
You start getting target panic.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:48
So you go to a hint, a thumb button, and that fixes the problem for a month.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:52
And you're like, man, I'm so good at fix the problem.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:53
Thank God.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:55
And then you start getting target panic with that.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:56
So then you go to a hinge and you're like, oh man, it fixed the problem with that.
Jake NorrisHOST
45:59
But then you can still have target panic with a hinge, especially at distance.
