Tara Isabella Burton

Is that right? Oh, no, no, no, no, no.

Tara Isabella Burton, The World Cannot Give.

The World Cannot Give.

Yes.

... uh, my cultural recommendation, uh, is a cultural recommendation that Liz Wolfe made to me, so you can credit her for this one as well.

Um, it's a book called Strange Rites: New Religion in a Godless World by Tara Isabella Burton.

Um, and it's a reminder to us all that when traditional religion declines, something always seems to fill the vacuum.

Uh, in our age it turns out to be, uh, break into a few camps, New Age philosophy centered around the self, self-care, the ego, very goop, very witchy and progressive coded.

You also, there's a claim that you have underneath your book.

You talk about Tara Isabella Burton's self-creation.

Mm-hmm.

that we are authoring our own meaning.
