Mm.
4:43
You can imagine the disappointment from my parents and, um, I thought they were gonna be more mad, to be honest.
4:49
Uh, my dad didn't talk to me for a little while, but they tried to encourage me and, and they just said, "Look, if school is not for you, um, that's okay, but whatever you do, you just need to figure out something that you actually like." Because they knew me better than I knew myself.
5:02
My dad actually told me, he said, "You are not gonna be a doctor.
5:05
I know you." He was like, "You're not gonna go to school for 20 years, and you're gonna get bored, and you're gonna go try s- to find something else to do." And they were right.
5:13
Honestly, I think I found out early on about myself.
5:16
When I was in high school, I worked so many odd jobs, and I could never stick to anything unless I really enjoyed it, right? So after that first year in college, I was working just all sales and marketing jobs.

How did you cultivate a deeper sense of self-trust, especially in the moments when you felt uncertain in your business?
5:23
So what was that defining moment when you realized you could turn your passion into a thriving business?
5:29
You know, when I worked...
5:32
it was, it took a long time to come to that realization because when I was working in the fashion industry and, um, I went from corporate sales to the fashion industry because I wanted to do something creative and then working in the fashion industry, fashion industry, I was able to, um, you know, utilize a lot of my design skills, creativity.
5:52
I was, I did photography.
5:54
We, I kind of helped them build the website.
5:56
I did a lot of different things working for the small company and, um, I did that for about 10 years.
6:05
Somewhere in the middle of those 10 years, I was very stressed out about work and I had a lot of anxiety.

44:02
So it's just these things, it's just a great feeling to be able to help someone fulfill a dream that they have or a goal that they want to accomplish.
26:32
How do you do you incorporate those things with your students and your clients?
26:38
Absolutely.
26:38
I mean, you know, having that mindset shift.
26:42
So I used to be a very negative person, kind of hot-tempered, had a lot of anxiety, and I was very responsive, explosive.
26:52
And after learning to manage my thoughts a little bit better, journaling really helped get my feelings out, like practicing gratitude every day.
27:00
And honestly, reading a lot of books, I started spending my commutes that used to drive me nuts, hour to and from LA, instead of complaining about it, I started listening to audio books.
27:10
I started... you know, reading a lot of self-help books.

8 MINS LATER

34:51
I like that mindset.
7:35
Let's just stop overthinking it and start podcasting.
7:39
So it was really tough when that was our livelihood.
7:43
And I'm sure so many other people can relate.
7:45
So that was huge.
7:46
And then afterwards, because everybody's on Zoom calls and working remotely and they're looking at their faces on screen, we got really, really busy after we started opening up again.
7:55
And then the year right after COVID, the government almost shut my business down.
8:00
Isn't that insane? Yeah.
12:23
If somebody wants to work with you, like business wise, it's all on Zoom, right? So it doesn't matter where they're located.
