But, like, they were not competent in almost any areas last year.

They were not well prepared, and it's pretty clear to me, based on this one game, but that, you know, that Aaron Glenn is an upgrade over Steve Wilks and that Frank Reich is an upgrade over Tanner Engstrand, uh, at the very least.

You know, again, it's week one, teams adjust, yada, yada, yada.

But I, I came out of that game, you know, kind of excited about what this team could be this year, not even necessarily in terms of wins, but, you know, being competitive, playing good football, being in games.

Mm-hmm.

And Geno being solid makes a offensive coordinator look better too.

Like, you know, Tanner Engstrand had to work with Justin Fields, and whoever was calling plays over the course of the Rodgers era, uh, had to deal with Rodgers being the one who wants to call his own plays.

And, um, you know, LaFleur had, was at his best with Mike White and Joe Flacco and at his worst with Zach Wilson.

Even then, Wilson has only nine one hundred yard games and five games of twenty-five plus DK points through his first fifty-eight professional appearances.

The list of Wilson's offensive play callers since his rookie season consists of Matt LaFleur, who was good, Nathaniel Hackett, who was horrible, and Tanner Engstrand, who was poor, meaning his weekly floor should remain elite given the shift to Reich.

It is just difficult for me to view Wilson as a serious ceiling threat given his history.

Historic trends yield two point six ceiling games in twenty twenty-six, making Wilson a player I will likely be well underweight on in twenty twenty-six DFS contests.

We've emphasized having Frank Reich.

handle the offense, and he's not a novice like Tanner Engstrand was learning on the job a year ago.

If they look bad and lose or just lose in general, that's why I think it gets loud so quickly.

And sure, they could win week two.

And I think Aaron Glenn implicitly admitted he messed up the construction of his coaching staff this offseason because he fired so many key coaches on the team.

The offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, was sent packing.

And I would argue that that was a justified move.

It got a lot of pushback among the Jets fan base.

Then we kind of have a collaboration on defense between Aaron Glenn and Brian Duker.

On the offensive side of the ball with Frank Reich, there are a couple of things that Tanner Engstrand just did not do last year that I think need to get better.

There were just so many obvious things that were not done with the 2025 Jets on offense.

You know, one of the things that was striking to me is when Engstrand was fired by the Jets, or I guess he technically parted on mutual terms, we can call it whatever we want.

These are the things I'm looking for for Frank Reich this year.

I'd like to see professionalism on the offensive coaching staff.

I think that in retrospect, I don't know, maybe Tanner Engstrand is ready to be an offensive coordinator somewhere, but I think the job was too big for him.

Trying to overhaul an offense that didn't really have the pieces yet, maybe a little bit too much for a young coach.

So that's going to be part of it as well.

Engstrand, by the way, for those who don't know, he was the Lions offensive coordinator at Johnson, and then he goes out to the Jets.

Think about this, to the point of where we think these play callers might be, he's now just the passing game coordinator for the Falcons.

So, you know, those stars, they rise, but they also fall pretty quickly when you don't work out.

I wanna talk a little bit more about Frank Reich.

Obviously, brand-new look because last year it was the inexperienced Tanner Engstrand, this year the very experienced Frank Reich.

We talked about this on the show yesterday.

People a little bit nervous about Frank Reich being a dinosaur, but you got to watch this all throughout camp.
