Tangata whenua

And so, yeah, I think it took the timeline.

It's so long ago, but I think the timeline basically ran after that, that it took about another nine to 10 days when I then got a reply from the drug rep expressing her um, disgust with my attitude, um, and, um, you know, explaining that, uh, she was regarded as, uh, self as Tangata Whenua.

And I should have, you know, thought about that, of course, uh, it should, just because she had a, an Anglo Saxon name, didn't mean that she didn't, didn't, uh, uh, regard herself as, um, more Maori, um, um, whatever the case, uh, I must admit, I probably wouldn't have replied if it hadn't been such an Anglo-Saxon name.

But anyway, she expressed how horrified she was with my response and how inappropriate it was, etc.

yeah.

And when you've written something through Indigenous eyes, and in this case, Tangata Whenua with the character of Mohi, can you talk about that process? You already mentioned Te Hurangi, but is it right that Te Hurangi people read the manuscript? Yeah.

Yeah, that's right.

So one thing was really important to me.

We honour and respect the Elders past and present who weave their wisdom into all realms of life.

So foundational investor Kaingaroa Tipu, formerly Timberlands, well it manages around 230,000 hectares of the Kaingaroa forestry estate where it produces 4 million logs each year.

So this forest was returned to Tangata Whenua in 2009.
