This past week, the Prime Minister unveiled a plan to open up Canada's four largest airports, including YVR, to private investment.

But what could it all mean for YVR and its passengers? I put that question and others to airport CEO Tamara Vrooman.

I think the thing that's most important is this really is the beginning of a process as we understand it and so there's many many decisions between now and any potential decision and so in the short term it doesn't mean anything you know we continue to operate we continue to do all of the great things that we do and what we're most interested in is you know YVR is a global success story over many, many decades.

We've been named the best airport in North America by Skytrax independent survey.

you must have had questions from your employees this past week what does this mean for me am i going to have a job in the future what do you tell them

yeah i tell them uh it yes you'll have a job in the future uh your future is uh is secure here what we need to be focused on is keep doing the excellent work Today, tomorrow, and the next day, that has made YVR the fantastic airport that it is.
