We have Tactics Ogre, The Knight of Lodeas, our first JRPG for the system, and Kuru Kuru Kururin, which was not released in North America, but was released in the UK June 22nd, 2001 with the release of the Game Boy Advance there.

Eric Van AllenHOST
75:31
It, it is very, very good.
Eric Van AllenHOST
75:33
I will say, and this might be heretical of me to say, uh, but I think if you want like really gritty tactics, like, like really thoughtful tactics where you're having to make like really careful decisions and you're kind of up against the line constantly, you can play Fire Emblem on, on like really high difficulties and it'll get there, but I think you might be slightly better served by playing something like a Tactics Ogre or, or something like that, or, or a, even a Final Fantasy Tactics.
Eric Van AllenHOST
76:03
Um, I, I also like...
Eric Van AllenHOST
76:07
Fi- Fire Emblem does very specific things within the genre, and I do think one of those is the support building, the relationship building, each unit kind of having a very individualized identity that then they share with other people, plays into the broader story.
Eric Van AllenHOST
76:20
Whereas you play a Tactics Ogre and, like, you might have a few named units, but most of them are just kind of dudes that are there to, to live or die [laughs] by your command, and it's a little bit more-

Mm-hmm
Eric Van AllenHOST

... gameplay focused.
Eric Van AllenHOST
76:31
So I think if you want more of the gameplay and less of the anime pushing the, the figures together to make them kiss, uh, I, I think, like, Tactics Ogre is probably the game that you want.

Matthew Van ZantHOST
69:16

Matthew Van ZantHOST
69:22
I like the little, like, the f- you feel like you're in a little diorama town, you know? And Fire Emblem is just top down, fucking move your guy forward, and then the chara- the enemy moves forward, and then you move forward.

CaptainHod and DragonForce, you know, that article I wrote the other month, the guy I met up with after like 26 years, DragonForce is in his top five games of all time as well.
PatrickHOST

Axe Ogre is a really good one.
PatrickHOST
56:46
I need to play- I need to finish that one.
BrianGUEST
68:22
I'm not opposed to some sci-fi elements, though, because most strategy RPGs are medieval war fantasy, so it's fun to see something a little bit different, at least some shades of it.
BrianGUEST
68:37
I've been playing a lot of Shining Force lately, too, and Tactics Ogre, and I do love those games, but it's fun to see a different kind of setting.
David LloydHOST
68:46
Well, as Final Fantasy fans, we love when our medieval aesthetics get mixed in with the sci-fi future technology stuff.
David LloydHOST
68:56
I'm already interested, so we'll see how that goes.
