Ta'al

They want to do whatever influence they can, either from the Knesset or from the outside.

You've got a smaller party called Ta'al, which is a, I wouldn't call it a, there's, well, before we get to Ta'al, Balad is a secular Arab nationalist party, very much opposed to the idea of a Jewish state.

They want kind of a, I think they're, I don't know what their formal platform is, but this is a far left-wing secular party that is Arab nationalist party that wants to promote the Arab community in Israel.

From outside the government, they did not make it into the last Knesset, but now they combined it with Hadash and Tal.

The Ben-Gvir Jewish Power brief also says that NGOs affiliated with Abbas and Ra'am give financial support to Hamas and that Ra'am has ideological ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The second and third petitions were filed just after Rosh Hashanah by the Likud against both Ra'am and the Joint List, the Joint List being a consortium of two secular Arab political parties, Ta'al and Balad, and one ostensibly communist, ostensibly joint Jewish-Arab parties Hadash.

This brief argues that neither of these lists and none of the four parties they contain between them, quote, "are capable of defining Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations," end quote, making these parties unsuitable to stand for elections, according to the lawyers and politicians of the Likud.

What's more, the briefs say each of the parties supports policies that aim to harm IDF soldiers.

I, I, it's very unlikely that the High Court of Justice will, um, actually uphold either of them, um, if precedent is anything to go by, and especially in this current climate where I think the High Court of Justice is reluctant to intervene in these ki- or to be perceived to intervene in these kind of matters.

And then the other petition that is going on is, uh, Netanyahu's Likud as well as Otzma Yehudit, um, say that they are in the process of submitting, it's unclear if they've actually submitted or if they will submit, um, a petition banning the Joint List, which is a union of three Arab majority parties, Hadash, Balad and Ta'al, and the Islamist Ra'am party, which is led by Mansour Abbas, and is notably, notably also includes, uh, former Yesh Atid MK Yoav Segalovich, who is the number two on the list.

Um, and so that also I, I do not expect to be upheld if it, if it actually passes the Central Election Committee and goes to the High Court of Justice.

So all of this is just part of strategizing and campaigning and, you know, raising headlines and making people aware of everyone's faults, you know, throwing out, uh, statements made years ago and bringing them back to the forefront.
