T. Rex

In 1972, guitar virtuoso Peter Frampton made his live debut performance as a solo artist in New York City.

He was the opening act for the J. Geils Band.

Frampton had recently stepped away from his role as being the frontman and guitarist for the band Humble Pie.

In 1977, glam rock pioneer Marc Bolan, the frontman for the band T. Rex, died tragically at the age of 29 in an automobile accident in London, England.

The vehicle, which was driven by his girlfriend Gloria Jones, struck a tree just miles away from his house.

In 1977, renowned opera diva Maria Callas passed away at the age of 53 from a sudden heart attack at her home in Paris.

The two-episode arc where Sonny Crockett got amnesia and thought that he was a mob hit man was a bit stupid, we'll say.

Alright, my show today, it's the start of spring, so my show is the start of spring show.

Today I'm going to play some of the great songs from the likes of The Beatles, Elton John, Steelers Wheel, T-Rex and CCR.

But first, what happened in spring, what happened in rock and roll in spring? In 2014, a life-size bronze statue of singer Amy Winehouse was unveiled in Camden, North London.

Her father, Mitch Winehouse, said she was in love with Camden and it was the place fans associated with her.

The band broke up in 1975 and briefly reformed in 2008.

Gerry Rafferty, of course, had a hit solo artist, with Baker Street.

Then we have T-Rex.

They're an English rock band formed in 1967 by songwriter and guitarist Mark Bolan.

So all those years ago.

And Mark Bolan is the other one from T-Rex.

So we'll talk about memories of Mark Bolan.

The T-Rex stood for? Tyrannosaurus Rex.

But from a musical point of view, you have to just really be on... you know, you've got to be on form because there's like changes, sudden changes, and you've got to just, like we do this kind of medley thing in the opening part where it's a kind of mixture of war pigs, Black Sabbath, into Kashmir, Zeppelin, and Children of the Revolution, T-Rex, and like a light edition sort of in the second verse of the, part of Children of the Revolution just switches instantly into Army of Me by Björk.

It's all a concept set.

So it's called the Pop Dungeon End Times.

Um, he's been in a bunch of bands.

But he's like a big engineer now, and he just kind of talked me through it and was like, "There's this guy in Tennessee.

Like, send him the tapes.

He basically bakes them in an oven, dries them out, and then he does like a digital transfer by these specs, and then you get like WAV files back." And the WAV files are basically like, it's not like the songs are cut up into songs.
