So my recommendation would be Whit Bee by T. Kira Madden.

She is, uh, a queer native Hawaiian, and I just read this book recently, so it's really fresh.

And I think it's, it's not really similar, similar in a lot of ways, but the one way that it is similar is that her main character writes in first person, and then all of the other characters are written in third person point of view.
