And you've been very open with that, right? So when did body image first become something you struggled
41:59
with? Oh, I mean...
42:03
I was a kid.
42:05
I was little.
42:07
I was around maybe eight or nine.
42:09
I had come back from a trip to my dad's.
42:12
And my dad didn't really care.

19 MINS LATER

61:08
How did you choose the title? When did you work on it? Just tell us all about it.
91:54
So why name it Cold War? Why is that the name of the EP?
91:57
Well, you know, like, it's just an all-around feeling that people just fight for a lot and they feel like it's one-sided, if you get what I'm saying.
92:05
Like, I'm basically, like, I've been through a lot and I'm done fighting.
92:10
Just let me go.
92:11
Like, let me be Sarah rather than... you know, like holding me down and trying to actively fight something.
92:17
So it's like, yeah, it's just dead.
92:19
You know what I mean? You're fighting against nothing.

5 MINS LATER

97:26
How does she talk you through those things in a way that like people may not ever understand about her because we just look at her as Brandy?
6:33
So why name it Cold War? Why is that the name of the EP?
6:35
Well, you know, like, it's just an all-around feeling that people just fight for a lot, and they feel like it's one-sided, if you get what I'm saying.
6:43
Like, I'm basically, like, I've been through a lot, and I'm done fighting.
6:48
Just let me go.
6:49
Like, let me be Sarah, rather than, you know, like, holding me down and trying to actively fight something.
6:56
So it's like...
6:58
Yeah, it's just dead.
9:13
journey.
4:12
What are some things you learned from that experience?
4:14
Well, that experience was insane, first of all, just going to his house and seeing all of his records and stuff.
4:19
It like, I was like, "Oh my God, you get to work with such an incredible," uh, not only, like, artist, but just human.
4:25
He's so sweet, so kind, and he's really fast.
4:28
So I just respected, like, how he just goes into the booth and just says what he wants and then maybe kind of mixes it up a little bit, but just really saying what's on your mind rather than, like, just being so hard on yourself about what you're trying to express.
4:40
So I really, really respected him.
4:43
And uh, yeah, the n- the new songwriters that I'm working with now too, they do the same.
6:47
Mm
41:38
Okay.
41:39
Uh, I really, really love that song, and, and I feel like you can really hear my pain.
41:43
Such good therapy, and, like, these songs I just feel like is a very universal feeling.
41:49
It's very, very purposeful, this project, and that's why we named it Cold War, 'cause it's like, dang, being in your, your young 20s, early 30s, 40s, whatever, you always experience something.
41:59
You know what I mean?

7 MINS LATER

49:19
Oh, wow.
49:20
Like I did not know until I was around eight or nine, and I went downstairs and I grabbed, um, a CD and put it in my CD player, and I was like, "Why is my mom in the front of this?"
73:39
No.
73:39
Go ahead.
73:40
Oh, well, obviously she's very involved in, like, what I do musically.
73:44
She's vocal produced, along with Troy Taylor, he, he did and mom did, they vocal produced me for this whole n- u- upcoming project that I'm putting out.
73:53
But yeah, they push me a lot.
74:31
Mm-hmm.
74:32
But, you know, I, I love to work.
74:33
I really love to work.
