It gives me an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach.

For example, Swiss billionaire Hans-Jörg Wyss, founder of the medical device company Synthes, has donated to politically liberal and environmental causes in the U.S., His role is known largely because reporters dug it out.

By the way, the Federal Election Commission, or FEC, is supposed to be the referee here, making sure that rules and laws are followed.

But the FEC hasn't had a quorum since spring 2025, so the agency can't transact business.

Joseph was the president and general manager of the combined company from 2015 to 2017.

From 2018 to 2022, he was president of Johnson & Johnson MedTech's Power Tools business, which made drills, saws, and instruments for orthopedic surgery.

Then he moved on to Dennis Pli, D-E-N-I-S-P-L-I, based in Charlotte, running their biomaterials business out of Israel.

Now he's running Great Lakes Dental, which has an employee stock ownership plan, and about 200 employees.

So my sister, who's a doctor, can't believe what I'm doing now.

[chuckles] So but anyhow, so I somehow wiggled my way into the med tech sector back in the late nineties at a company called Synthes, which ultimately was acquired by Johnson & Johnson.

It was an orthopedic trauma company.

Phenomenal company, a great place to learn the business.
