The women slept in open bay barracks.

She built programs when the programs didn't exist.

She trained over a thousand women to fly military aircraft at a time when most people in authority couldn't picture it, and she went faster than sound at an age, when most pilots are thinking about hanging up their headsets.

The women who fly military jets today, the pilots who strap into F-22s and F-35s and do the work that needs doing, they have a direct line back to Avenger Field in Sweetwater, Texas, back to a woman who walked into General Arnold's office and said, give me the women.
