Sustainable Development Commission

Yes, I was chair

of the Sustainable Development Commission when Ed was Secretary of State

at the Department

of Energy and Climate Change.

So I worked very closely with Ed as his advisor through the Sustainable Development Commission.

We got him well, and I really admire him.

He's a very decent politician.

And being a journalist, writing about all these issues seemingly for the first time and being passionately committed to the idea of everybody having an equal chance of a good life.

And then there was the time that I spent with the UK Sustainable Development Commission, which was from 2000 to 2009, where I learnt from my colleagues on the commission about the connections between social policy and environmental policy and sustainability and what it entailed and why it was so important and how we can go about making the connections between social justice and environmental sustainability.

So just to go back to, you know, feminism and the idea, a broader idea of equality, one of the sort of defining cases in your career was in the early 80s where you campaigned for a Fleet Street wine bar to abolish a very unfair practice.

Can you tell me about the Elvino case?
