Um, Susan Seidelman's Desperately Seeking Susan.

[phone dings] Sorry, my phone went off there.

Um, Fame, the Alan Parker movie about the, uh, um, high school-

And, you know, there's a great documentary from a few years ago called Blank City that is about like all of these post-punk kind of filmmakers making low budget independent films in kind of coming out of the punk rock scene.

People like Jim Jarmusch and Susan Seidelman and Amos Poe.

Not genre films, you know.

And I don't think that Abel Farrar ever really gets lumped alongside them because his stuff has always got like a genre element for the most part.

Well, I'm caught between two evils.

I'd generally like to take the one I never tried.

A girl is lovely.

We're both married and we both know it.

Penny's mom played a lot of mind games.

Her parents didn't get along, but they stayed married.

At one point in her childhood, her mom told her that Penny had to choose who to live with because her parents were getting a divorce.

She went through the agonizing decision-making process all on her own and finally decided she'd live with her mom because her mom was more available.

And the only movie that she made, really, that was of any interest was Desperately Seeking Susan, which was, you know, 40 years ago.

And that was because of Rosanna Arquette and because of the... director Susan Seidelman, who was so great.

But outside of that, Madonna, you know, she's a great personality and a great performer, but she's a terrible actress.

Nevertheless, two of her, besides Desperately Seeking Susan, two of her worst movies are going to be part of the Criterion channel next month.
