Surfside condominium collapse

What are you going to what are you going to do with it? You may remember this building in Florida from a few years back.

In June of this year, the National Institute of Standards and Technology released the results of its long investigation into the collapse of these towers, the Champlain Towers south of Surfside, Florida.

Remember this? It was five years ago when it happened.

In the middle of the night, June 24, 2021, a large portion of that 12-story condominium building suddenly collapsed.

Trials expose what appearances conceal.

Some of you recall the Champlain Towers in South Florida back in 2021.

A 12-story reinforced concrete condominium building on Florida's coast.

It stood since 1981, about 40 years it stood.

Okay, exactly.

Any update on the Champlain Towers property? Just remind everybody what happened after the tragedy.

The property was ultimately sold.

The property was sold while they were still looking for evidence.

And there was a tower there.

I think I'm saying it, the Champlain Towers.

I think that's how you say it.

But I think it was like early morning hours.

Lenders don't want to take the unit as security for a loan if the unit's gonna be in disrepair.

And we only have to look back at twenty twenty-one in Surfside, Florida, when the Champlain Towers South collapsed.

It was a condominium unit that had deferred maintenance and the entire building collapsed, killing several people.

And it put a tremendous spotlight on these issues of deferred maintenance.
