Surf Ballroom

It's actually, if you follow his tour schedule, he'd rather perform in small arenas than the biggest.

So he was actually up at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake earlier this summer.

You see him in those types of communities all across the U.S. and Canada.

And we connected with chris over a shared event in the past year and he shared his passion for rural communities and actually has a strong affinity for the pioneer brand it's one of his earliest memories growing up in in the rural south so we had this opportunity we presented it to him and his team and it's just been a beautiful partnership he uh throughout his campaign or throughout the campaign and on his tour He will be playing a custom guitar with the Pioneer Trapezoid right on that.

Uh, much of that substance abuse came from the guilt that he carried for decades about the plane crash that took Buddy's life.

After that concert at Surf Ballroom, uh, where Waylon was playing bass for Buddy, Buddy made the joke, "Well, I hope your old bus freezes up," and Waylon responded, "Well, I hope your old plane crashes," and then that night, the plane crashed, and he just lived with that guilt-

Oh, God

... for, for years and years and years.

And this is a two vinyl set record.

It's called, well, it's, it celebrates the 1959 winter dance party of three artists who appeared in, um, Oh, of the, uh, what's the name of the place? Surf ballroom in Iowa.

And I've forgotten the year of it.

Are these the three folks who died in that plane crash?

But they took off into weather they shouldn't have been flying in.

And the plane went down with Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, and Richie Valens.

And so recently... um just i don't know what a couple of months ago august 7th we did a tribute concert at the surf ballroom with a lot of performers frankie avalon and g all these other artists uh did i got a whole list of people ray anthony um oh gosh you you would have to swell a whole

Yes, you know, this, I mean, being at the start, you know, we did the LP release at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa.
