Surety

Well, I'm Elisabeth Sandersfeld.

I've been in the insurance industry for more than 25 years, spanning across Life, PNC, and now Surety.

And I've been in this role at Merchants for the past three and a half years.

Merchants is a Surety-only company.

We're structured as a mutual, headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, with offices across the country.

We write more than $300 million of premium, and we work primarily with independent agents.

And again, we're the Surety experts.

Now, Merchants has been in business since 1933.

Hm

... of, of how you got into surety, first of all.

Yeah.

But then how you made your way and decided, "Hey, I'm gonna be more engaged in this career."

Yeah, yeah.

So like a lot of people, surety was not anything on my radar.

I didn't know what it was until-

You didn't-

But here's a word that you may not have heard, but I think is an important word.

He is our surety, our surety.

S-U-R-E-T-Y, surety.

Or should I say surety? Does that sound a bit better when I say surety? Okay.

Someone who agrees to be legally liable for another's behavior.
