Rex45HOST

World Superbike.
Rex45HOST

Motor America and I think another one in Motor America.
Rex45HOST
0:16
Although the BSB series, I mean, that's coming close.

Luis OrtegaPANELIST
50:41
Dude, you know that nobody needs you, right? There's a whole paddock of Moto2 dudes that will take that seat for free.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
50:49
Right.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
50:50
Like, what are you doing, bro? Oh, I'm not going to World Superbike.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
50:52
Too good for that.
Scott BoltonCORRESPONDENT
8:51
for
Jake RohrerHOST
8:52
apparently Superbike.
Jake RohrerHOST
8:53
You can use different gear ratios in the transmission, but you don't get to change them throughout the season.
Jake RohrerHOST
8:58
You have to set them at the beginning of the season and then commit to that transmission and uh they were saying they had spec like a very close ratio bike with more shifting required than maybe they had done in the past but it seems to be seems to be helping that bike

Jake RohrerHOST
21:44
I think I saw him, it may have been the first year he was pro.
Jake RohrerHOST
21:48
He was riding alongside Ben Bostrom on an R6 for Graves Yamaha, and it was in 2008.
Jake RohrerHOST
21:54
Went to Laguna for the Moto America or the, sorry, the AMA Superbike round there in 08.
Jake RohrerHOST
22:01
It was the last year.
Jack BurnicleHOST
2:45
And, um, I dunno what you've been up to recently, James.
Jack BurnicleHOST
2:48
Uh, obviously you've been across to Assen for the British Superbike Championship round.
James WhithamHOST
2:52
Uh, before we start with that, I was at Goodwood.
Jack BurnicleHOST
2:56
Oh.

5 MINS LATER

Jack BurnicleHOST

James WhithamHOST

Steve EnglishHOST

Hello and welcome to the Panic Pass podcast.
Steve EnglishHOST
0:07
On today's podcast, we're looking back at Nicola Buluka's coronation as the World Superbike Champion.
Steve EnglishHOST
0:11
And, well, it's been a while coming, Gordon Ritchie, but finally across the line and there hasn't been too much doubt for probably, what, round two onwards?
Gordon RitchieHOST
0:21
Yeah, it's one of those inevitable things.
Gordon RitchieHOST
2:52
It's been recovered in the Super Sport World Championship win a couple of years ago.
Gordon RitchieHOST
2:57
And now, as another lot of riders have done, he's redeemed it even more.
Gordon RitchieHOST
3:02
And Superbike, and he's now going off to MotoGP.
Gordon RitchieHOST
3:06
He's only human, but...
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
10:44
Yeah.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
10:44
Because it was... one of the best Superbike races, even though it was mixed conditions and everything else, it was one of the hands-down best, most exciting Superbike races I've seen.
ReesePANELIST
10:54
Right, right.
ReesePANELIST
10:55
I don't know in
Rex45HOST
12:02
He's excited for Colin.
Rex45HOST
12:03
You know, Bobby went in the races yesterday.
Rex45HOST
12:07
TJ, man, you know, what are your thoughts on what's gonna happen today? What are you hoping to see? How cool is it to be, you know, watching Superbike race later and it's come down to their last race, who's gonna win the championship?
TJ MannPANELIST
12:19
Yeah, this is all we asked for.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
27:14
I mean, Australia is huge.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
27:16
And Jack Miller moving to World Superbike, it does leave a huge hole for a big fan base.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
27:22
Right.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
27:23
So...
Rex45HOST
27:24
So does anything, what about him, his road, how he got to MotoGP? From starting in the Superbike paddock, you know, Moto3, Supersport, and then coming to Moto2, and he almost did it kind of seamlessly where we've seen other people struggle in the past.
Rex45HOST
27:38
Do you think they're just trying to say, this is not the path we want these riders to take to come to MotoGP?
Bobby FongSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
27:45
i mean

19 MINS LATER

Luis OrtegaPANELIST
47:01
It's a technique track.
Peter McLarenHOST
45:50
You'll remember, like me, Joe, when the MotoGP's came in from the 500s, wasn't it? And they were able to get across Colin Edwards, Troy Bayliss.
Peter McLarenHOST
45:58
We were able to get everybody into one championship, weren't we? And now with Toprak already here, Bulliger coming in, it kind of feels a bit like that again, doesn't it? So it's going to be great to have everybody on one grid and with a bit of a shake up in the machinery so that the Superbike guys are not having to completely adjust to a different bike as we've we've seen in the past guys have to do and sometimes not able to do it were they and even Cal took several years didn't he to find his feet and make that adjustment now such big changes the tyres seem to be the big one don't they because as you say for the lap times already for these 850s they're not far behind the 1000s so In terms of outright performance, there's not going to be a big difference.
Peter McLarenHOST
46:35
But yeah, let's hope that the balance between the tech and the rider is a bit more equal or a bit more on the side of the rider in this new era and that we can see closer racing.
Peter McLarenHOST
46:46
You mentioned superbike, that's interesting in the overtaking because that's the, I suppose the worry a little bit is that, well, it's not just as simple as take off the wings and then everyone overtakes each other, is it? It's such a difficult one to get that.
AnnikaPANELIST
0:59
Yeah, I've been very busy, very motorsport-filled.
AnnikaPANELIST
1:03
So I've been covering F1, F2, and Royal Superbike, so it's been very, very busy.
AnnikaPANELIST
1:08
So, yeah, excited to talk about racing in Baku.
AnnikaPANELIST
1:14
Yeah, it feels like a Sunday, doesn't it? Yeah.
CoopsHOST
1:31
So, yeah, we'll touch a wee bit on...
CoopsHOST
1:34
Well,
AnnikaPANELIST
1:34
Superbike is on.
AnnikaPANELIST
1:35
Well, World Superbike is on.
MichaelHOST
34:22
I don't know wh- whether it's on free-to-air or not.
HaydenHOST
34:24
That's probably Superbikes.
JoelHOST
34:24
I think...
JoelHOST
34:25
I thought it used to be on Seven for some reason.

8 MINS LATER

MichaelHOST
41:59
So yeah, they're your riders for next year, so keen to see how they go.
MichaelHOST
42:02
Obviously Miller's leaving.
MichaelHOST
42:03
He's going to Superbikes.
JoelHOST
42:05
Back to Superbikes.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
58:37
I have a lot of friends that work over at Orange Cat that are part of the Orange Cat team.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
58:42
So, you know, it would be nice for them in their first year in Superbike to win the championship.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
58:48
You know, I know that those guys have put on a great show and they'll be super excited because I've seen the work that they put into this Superbike effort this year.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
58:58
You know, not just the money because money is one part of it, but just the amount of work.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
59:03
They've done more testing than anybody else.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
61:54
It's It's exciting because I've been here for Motor America years where like the championship finished with two rounds to go because somebody just shit on the entire field.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
62:06
You know, they were up by 80 something points with only three races left.
Luis OrtegaPANELIST
62:10
And it was like, you know, World Superbike part two.
