Even I, even I know Super Why!

Even me inside a kid at that time.

You're not gonna guess who we have on the podcast today as a guest.

Angela Santomero is the Emmy Award-winning creator behind Blue's Clues, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, and Super Why!, and has also recently launched the book and YouTube Kids sensation Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things.

Angela began her career by co-creating Blue's Clues, which revolutionized the world of children's television when it debuted on Nickelodeon in 1996.

Through its pioneering interactive first format, the series became a global phenomenon, and th- that interactive first format is what I really want to get into with Angela today.

Oh, wow.

Um, you know, just like real team, um, of a g- 80 of us full-time for 11 years doing that show.

Um, and then starting my own company, and did, uh, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood and Super Why!, and so forth.

Amazing.

I mean, she, she's done a lot of other things in addition to Blue's Clues, a lot of it like PBS shows.

Like Super Why was another one that she did, and then also Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.

And if you've watched that show, you can see a huge...

I mean, it's, it's a variation of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

So we had the incredible Angela Santomero on our show.

She is a Peabody and two-time Emmy award-winning creator behind Blue's Clues.com. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, and Super Why.

She holds a master's in child developmental psychology from Columbia University Teachers College and has spent her career bringing child development and research-backed curriculum into interactive storytelling.

So I am so excited for today because we are really just diving into the power of stories and storytelling and how these stories and characters that our children connect with can help them explore and navigate their emotions.

And then since then decided to add some different curriculum.

So Blue's Clues was kindergarten readiness skills.

And then I did Super Why, which are reading skills, which ended up on PBS Kids, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, socio-emotional skills, and now a bunch of other shows.

And now I'm working on Princess Penelope's Purse of Preposterous Things for critical thinking skills, which is what I think kids really, really need right now.

Yes, we know that media can really move the needle on core skills.

And so there are decades of research on PBS kids shows that show that like when you watch a show like Super Why pretty regularly, kids do build core literacy skills.

And same with math.

Same with those social and emotional skills.
