I'm your host Levi Reilly and this week we're rewinding all the way back to Brands Hatch and round 5 of the 1992 British Touring Car Championship.

They did, they did a day and night meeting there once with, uh, Pro Car, with the Super Tu- uh, Super Tourers and Aust cars.

Yeah, so the circuit, Ricciardo Tormo, to give it its full name, and yes, to confirm, yes, Temerario is in fact, yes, in race room already.

Yes, Valencia is a brilliant circuit.

So it's...

Yeah, that's quite cool.

And obviously, that would align with the fact that they've done a classic version of Silverstone to make it work with the Super Tourers, which gives you the old national and the old international circuit there, which is very good for fans of the Toko Race series.

Some people are also saying it looks like there might be a shot that shows an older version of Laguna Seca's corkscrew.

Hello and a warm welcome back to Stories from Supertouring for Series 9.

I'm Alex Clarke and it's been a while since we've been together, but we're back for another fantastic lineup of guests coming your way over the next few weeks.

So Craig Lowndes gets to 33 now, but [sighs] this should be deemed a record, but it's not, because he's gone 33 years of racing Bathurst.

Jim Richards went 33 years as well, but he started both the Super Touring and the V8 races.

That gets him to 35.

Now, I'm a massive fan of Super Touring.

I was actually taken to some of the races in 94, including the Toka shoot out at Donington as a very young boy.

And I remember these cars with Ricard Rydell and...

The drivers had a more specific complaint.

A super touring saloon has a rear screen you can see through, which means you can see the braking board through the car ahead of you.

Behind an 855 there is a vertical tailgate and nothing else.

Rivals lost their reference points, and several of them expressed this by arriving at the back of the Volvos slightly harder than was strictly necessary.

The manufacturers had spent 1994 fighting about wings and settled it the obvious way.

Everybody could have them.

For 1995, the category, now formally called Super Touring, let every manufacturer homologate an aero kit independently of whatever it sold in the showroom.

Front splitter and a rear wing available to anyone who wanted them.
