Super Over

you probably look back at that and he'd probably say he'd probably wanted to play more test cricket.

If I were him, I'd have probably said run quicker in that World Cup final so we wouldn't have to go to the Super Over.

But I mean, he was quick, but he didn't run that quick, as quick as he bowled.

But no, look, he can be proud of what he's achieved.

Um, but, uh, I might try and sprinkle a few bits in.

Well, you know, um, i- in the final stages of the 2019 World Cup final when Eoin Morgan, when it's, got to the Super Over and, uh, you know, they were all wishing each other good luck and so on.

Yeah.

And Eoin Morgan beckoned over Adil Rashid and said, um, you know, "We've got Allah with a- with us, haven't we?" Uh, Rashy, or, uh, Adil, and Adil Rashid said, "Always, brother."

And I think वो masterful है, uh, with, with Sophie Ecclestone.

I mean, she bowls the Super Overs, right? So I mean, that's, that's very high praise anyways.

Incredible death bowler.

Um, but also as k- an iconic moment in sport.

I mean, the, the, the extraordinary events of the final against New Zealand, and the, the last hour, and the Super Over, it was unbelievable.

I've never seen Lords like it.

We're gonna talk first about the famous Super Over when we were up against New Zealand in the World Cup.

Which World Cup?

... and it was the first time a Super Over had ever been needed in cricket World Cup history.

Yeah, 'cause I was gonna ask you how long ago was that, 'cause Super Overs are decently new.

Yeah.

And Jofra Archer, uh, you know, Jofra bowling the, the Super Over, uh, just getting it right, just-

I, I, I tell you- I mean, Jos put the play nice, and then he got out, and I thought, "Oh, they've lost this." The, the other thing was, okay, did, did Stokes have a full toss on leg stump, and he just tried to knock it for two, and then Woody got run out? I mean, nine times out of 10, that, that's over, that's over old Father Time, wasn't it? And he just sort of knocked it for two.

We went, "What are you doing?" Oh, it's amazing, don't you think?

The one, one thing about it also is that it, I mean, it was astonishing once in a lifetime day really with the Super Over as it was and everything else.

Why the ICC has decided therefore that you should have as many Super Overs as you like at the end of a one day, that would've, you know, just, just call it kind of quits.
