Sunwing Airlines

[laughs] In all fairness, I really don't know how it works, but you know, I just find these rules always to be very interesting.

Um, so I have a couple of friends who work for Sunwing, like the airline, and the rules that go into place in terms of how they look or how they have to present themselves, I find mind-boggling.

You can only have one hole in each ear, one piercing in each ear.

Um, you have to have black boots that go up to your knees, but can't have any sort of buckle or any sort of silver or any- anything on it.

The Hunter family, Colin Hunter, his son Stephen Hunter, the whole family is involved in that organization.

Formerly owned Sunwing Airlines, Sunwing Vacations, but they own still Royalton Resort, luxury resorts and hotels.

I don't think it's known, quite frankly, by the average Canadian.

And I talk about an absolute homegrown success story because you've got, what, 26 hotels, 9,000 hotel rooms.

Correct.

But just to decide, okay, we're going to do it and then end up 15 years later, look back and say, well, let's just keep going.

Because that business, the Sunwing Vacations business, Sunwing was sold to WestJet, to the Onyx Group.

That's correct.

I know a lot of people are looking for some warm destinations and we're really starting to see that now.

And some good news, I know it's not on my list, but we had seen a lot of consolidation in the world of the Canadian tour operators, the package companies that we so often take to places like Mexico or the Caribbean and do all-inclusive vacations and the real popular spots they marry airfare with accommodations and sometimes with tours and other things and we had seen Air Canada vacations and WestJet vacations and WestJet bought Sunwing and you know like it just feels like it was there was not a lot of competition but Porter vacations is up and coming and Flair Vacations will be launching later this year.

So there's some competition in the marketplace and the prices are coming down.
