Sunshine Skyway Bridge

They did a lot of crazy stuff together.

We got into a fish fight one night out here at the Skyway Bridge.

Arthur threw a catfish and hit my brother in the back, and it stuck.

When I moved back to St. Pete, because I'd been working over in Brandon, Riverview, the progressive insurance.

I was an agent over there for a lot of years.

And I moved back over here, and there was a place out on the water out there by the Skyway Bridge that... apartment complex I stayed at and I had a two bedroom townhouse and he was staying with these other people there's like three or four of them in a two bedroom maybe three bedroom I don't know what it was but he kept complaining you know and somebody told me that there's a wrestler over here staying over here and I go who is it and he told me and I said well I don't know the guy So I called Hector, and Hector told me about him.

So he's one of the boys.

That hump is where I start to relax and I feel like I'm home.

Um, oddly enough, I am 10 minutes from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which is much closer than the Howard Frankland, but once I go more than one exit south over the Skyway Bridge, it doesn't feel like home anymore.

Hmm.

Now, north is trickier, 'cause I grew up in Clearwater.

We were always fascinated in spring training with that trip across the Sunshine Skyway across Tampa Bay.

It was a little over 12 miles.

This one will be over 17 miles.

I was like in St. Pete.

I was under the Skyway Bridge in St. Pete out there.

You guys familiar with that? You heard about that? We were.

I've never seen it.

You've made it very clear that you want... your body to be cremated like Dad, and then for us to take the urns with both of your ashes, and to take it up to Boston where you were both raised, and to take both sets of ashes and pour it into the ocean.

And therefore, I'm making this black joke, if you jump off the Skyway Bridge and we don't find your body, we can't cremate you, therefore you can't be dumped into the ocean.

Ha ha ha ha.

And I've seen the signs.

That was the last day for me.

That was the last day for me to know that you're on the Skyway Bridge.

You can't get off of it.

But it's just not as consistent.

There were so many days where I'm like, well, the only place I know for sure it is is the Skyway Bridge.

So you're running from Williams Park to the bridge.

It's, I don't know, close to 20 miles.

The Port of Tampa is notorious for this.

Uh, it's a very long passage from, uh, this, what we call the sea buoy, where the, the pilots usually get on, through the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, up to the channel to, uh, to the Port of Tampa.

And because there's been issues in the past with reduced visibility and vessels having, uh, allisions, collisions, even one hitting the Sunshine Skyway Bridge back in the '80s, uh, that's a very, very, uh, high risk of not having your cruise if there's fog in the Tampa area.

And fog is typically from about November to March, uh, that season in the Tampa area.

Galveston, because the transit is shorter as well as Port Canaveral, fog's not as much of an issue.
