Sunless Sea

Falcon, have you heard of the game Sunless Sea?

No.

Okay, so it's like a weird game where you're an underwater boat captain guy that's in a giant cave or whatever.

I was still really, I'd done some game writing by that point.

Like I'd written for Sunless Sea and like a few other things, as well as doing a lot of games journalism.

But it was always freelance.

So basically, it was somebody else's game.

Excuse me, I've had a cough.

And so what I downloaded Unity, I started playing around with it.

And I'd recently been writing for London and Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies wasn't around yet.

And so my mind was kind of in those sort of, like, interaction things.

Because, yeah, you do see games where it's very much a blank slate and you do what you like.

And then there are games like I'm thinking of Sunless Sea and the Failbetters games where they give you like an ambition or a character sort of goal.

And it's broad but specific.

And they're very much part of the world building.
