Miss Green Placentia said her memory of the episode was spotty, but she recalled kicking her attackers until they fled.

She said the assault took place in the pre-dawn hours of August 14th in Sun City, Arizona, suburb of Phoenix.

After the attack, she said she withdrew from her staff and family.

For about two days, she did not respond to messages or phone calls and she missed the campaign event.

A Democrat running for Congress in the West Valley told authorities she was raped in a Sun City parking lot while repairing a damaged campaign sign.

Bernadette Green-Placencia recounted the attack to the Phoenix New Times, detailing how she was knocked unconscious when someone smashed the back of her head shortly after 2:00 AM on a Friday earlier this year.
