Summer H. Howell

So I wanna know what that's all about 'cause I am, I am impressed that they've expanded the world, and I have some theories.

And then the other reason is I am very, very fond of the lead performance by this young girl by the name of Summer H. Howell, um, who plays Carrie.

And Sam will know this because before we even started watching, I was, like, going on a fake rant about how I was gonna yell and scream.

This is true.

Nevertheless, I watched the show.

Yes.

And they did make h- Summer H. Howell, she's, she's playing 14, 15, and, you know, what they do with her hair and makeup, they make her look ...

She really does look 14, 15.

Cause I am, I am impressed that they've expanded the world and I have some theories.

She's playing 1415.

And he hooks you right away using Mike Flanagan's new adaptation of Carrie.

Oh, the one featuring Summer H. Howell?

Yes, exactly.

Because when we think of telekinesis, we immediately think of Carrie White, you know?

As Carrie discovers the extent of her powers, those around her hear about them and learn that there are consequences by, of treating someone like a monster.

Taking on the role of Carrie White is Summer H. Howell, who surprisingly had never read or saw Carrie before she landed the role ahead of 1,800 other candidates.

I feel like that probably gave her a really good advantage.

It did.

Whatever.

But regardless, Summer Howell as Carrie.

Amazing.

I mean, Samantha Sloan as well.

grace moritz and she started

yeah it was not none of it was good except this one featuring a wonderful actress young actress called summer howell worked, and it was Mike Flanagan.

He's an expert in horror movies and horror shows, and he's done some great ones lately.

I actually liked his Doctor Sleep.

Yeah.

And her, and the way that Summer Howell just physicalizes that-

Mm

... is perfect.

So Sam, I wanna start with you because I think this... it's such an interesting perspective.

Something that Mike Flanagan loved about casting Summer Howell was the fact that she had not seen the previous movies.

She didn't go into...

It's almost like when they cast Steve Carell for The Office.

He's like, "I didn't watch any of the previous stuff 'cause I needed this to be my own." It was the same thing with Summer Howell.

Like, she needed this to be her own version of Carrie, not just repeating and regurgitating the same thing as before.

So with this being a new experience for you, you see this story.
