This is one of the oldest words known, occurring in Sumerian, Egyptian, Greek, and Indo-European languages.

I want to say it's Gaea, I guess.

For example, in Sumerian mythology, demons weren't always evil.

For example, they had a good and a bad side.

But this is the thing, and this is where the information gets kind of icky to me.

When I look at the information about the UFOs, Nibiru or Nibiru that people talk about when you look at there's this so there's this book called the electronic text well it's this website called the electronic text corpus of Sumerian literature it's a website where anybody can go to to read the actual translation of these cuneiform tablets and Anybody can go there.

Everybody has access to internet can go to this website.

It's actually the bread and butter for all the information.

Um, you don't want to, you know, not go to this website cause this is the, this is, this is where you want to go.

Um, And you have to use the words correctly.

You can't type in Anunnaki and expect anything to come up because the Sumerians didn't call them the Anunnaki.

The Sumerians called them the Anunna.

I can't think of any, but I'm not fully read.

Like, it's possible that they were copying something from Sumerian things or whatever, or some other local, or maybe even Egyptian, because they were definitely culturally influenced by the Egyptians too.

Oh, and by that point, they were probably also being culturally influenced by the Greeks by the time they're rebuilding the temple, if that's when this was written.

Sumerian is another very old language.

It is attested from 3000 BC.

Right, right.

Who's like the master of Sumerian, the Sumerian language, which doesn't exist anymore, right? And he's talking about Sumerian literature and all of this.

But then they run into that guy, Ernario, who's a friend and possible one-time lover of Ludmilla.

And he doesn't read books at all.

There have been a number of proposals, some serious and some more speculative, linking it to languages spoken for example in the Caucasus, but none has met the evidential standards required to establish a family relationship.

And then there's Sumerian, which gives us an even more extraordinary situation.

Sumerian was spoken in ancient Mesopotamia, and it's preserved in thousands of cuneiform texts.

We therefore know an enormous amount about its vocabulary and grammar, yet despite more than a century of attempts to find relatives for it, Sumerian remains generally classified as a language isolate.

A third example is Burashaski, spoken today in northern Pakistan.

It's another language whose genetic affiliation remains unresolved.

It has in effect become something of a linguistic orphan, although orphan is perhaps the wrong metaphor because we simply don't know whether its relatives are dead or still waiting to be identified.

And this illustrates an important point, that being an isolate isn't necessarily a consequence of having very little evidence.
