The mistake was mocked by the zoo's customers and visitors online.

Loisa ecosystem in Sumatra is a landscape that has global significance.

A lot of people know Sumatran tiger, Sumatran rhino, Sumatran elephant, and the iconic orangutan.

But not many of them know that the Loisa ecosystem is the last place on earth where this critically endangered Sumatran megafauna still coexists together in the wild.

It's a vast landscape of 2.7 million hectares.

Imagine a third of the Netherlands.

Three of them went extinct, the Javan, Bali, and Caspian tiger.

Of the remaining six subspecies, the South China tiger is thought to be extinct in the wild, and the other five are Bengal, Amur, Indochinese, Malayan, and Sumatran.

But recent DNA work says that there may just be two subspecies.

And today we're heading into Sumatra's shrinking forests, where a very, very old relationship between humans and animals, in this case tigers, is being rewritten in real time.

For generations, communities living alongside these Sumatran tigers have understood them through different registers, as guardians, or as jadi-jadian, or were-tigers, who are former humans, or as harimau tandang, or as outsider tigers.

But as logging, palm oil, and industrial plantations fragment the forests, those old categories are having to do new work.
