A Sukhoi superjet makes an emergency landing and catches fire.

41 of the 78 people on board die.

Video from inside the cabin shows passengers in the aisle, pulling luggage out of the overhead bins while the aircraft is burning.

We're flying our jets as close to Soviet airspace as we possibly could get, if not sometimes inside Soviet airspace, just to see how long it takes them to respond to us piercing their airspace.

And to see which radar systems light up and to see where those radar systems are and to see how quickly it takes the Soviet MiGs and Sukhoi fighter planes to scramble all of those things.

That's great information.

It is.

They did.

They sent up some fighter planes to intercept it.

The first airplanes, they were unable to intercept it, but then Sukhoi 15 does intercept the plane.

And then there's a lot of debate about what happened next.

There's also going to be talks about upgrading nearly 260 fighter jets that India has already purchased from Russia.

These Sukhoi fighter jets, Russia now wants to convert into super Sukhois by adding more firepower to

them.

That, that's the main, the main problem with this, uh, relations that we're usually, our attention is usually drawn, uh, like, uh, driven away, uh, towards like big things like S-400s, uh, uh, Sukhoi Su- uh, Sukhoi fighter jets.

But in the reality, um, uh, the backbone of this relation is a day-to-day cooperation in the training, in the technological development, in exchange of data, um, in exchange of experience of how to build the military production.

In the '90s, the Russians were helping, uh, Iranians to build up its mi- their military industrial complex.

Now, let's talk about aerobatics as a discipline, because I think a lot of pilots outside the aerobatic community misunderstand what it actually is.

When most people think of airshow aerobatics, they picture the high-performance end of the spectrum, the unlimited category aircraft, like the Extra 300 or the Sukhoi 26 doing outside loops and knife-edge passes and torque rolls that look like physics took the afternoon off.

That stuff is extraordinary to watch.

But it is a long way from where aerobatic training starts, and confusing the showcase for the syllabus does a disservice to the discipline.

The primary category is where most people start, and it is genuinely accessible.

You don't need an extra 300.

You don't need a Sukhoi.
