Subsidiarity

You might've heard this and they think, oh, solidarity is what the state does and subsidiarity is what the individuals or the communities do.

And that's wrong.

Subsidiarity is, sorry, solidarity is the inspiration for the practice of subsidiarity and subsidiarity is the activation of solidarity.

And in fact, it's in subsidiarity relationships where we get to know each other that solidarity grows.

Solidarity doesn't grow when the state does something for you because it's completely bureaucratized and anonymous.
