Subplot

So I thought that was very funny.

And yeah, very clear A plot and B plot.

It's very important that they have a B plot so that they can get Pike off of the Enterprise.

Mm-hmm.

So that you can have an admiral come in and basically take it over.

fine.

It doesn't matter.

And the B plot is fine.

sadly that means that there was a bunch in

between always and I mean I think the most powerful part of the movie for me is the Subplot or thread with these two characters the mayor and mother sister yeah played by Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee who are kind of the wise older figures in this community.

Both Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee are actually both very well-known stage actors in the black community.

They've been married, I think, since the

... unhinged C plot.

[laughs] Yeah.

Correct.

... a teacher who has sex with Cal; Liz, Hannah's hilariously cynical friend; and Jessica, a 17-year-old babysitter for Cal and Emily's kids, including their 13-year-old son, Robbie.

Jessica and Robbie make up the C plot, which also disturbingly includes Cal.

You can do without it.

But both the A and B story involved looking at the shades of gray and that things are not so black and white.

So I felt like it did support it in that way, especially – and they sort of punctuated that at the end when they leave the system and all of a sudden Una sees in color again.

So that works for me.

I agree.

Still.

So what did we think about? Do you want to talk about the A story or the B story? a okay so yeah i mean what do you think okay let's go to the other gimmick that we haven't got to yet and i don't know they've ever done this in star trek before but the identical stranger situation like the prisoner of zinda type of situation they had going on yeah like we've had a lot of like alternate realities and shapeshifters and right duplicates and clones and right but never just like oh you happen to look exactly like so-and-so what did you what did you think about that

I didn't care for it, but I didn't like the episode.
