Sub Focus

Yeah, you know, it was like hunger completely.

And the thing was, as I met, Dan Brooks from the Brooks Brothers, he was driving Sub Focus at the time.

Sub Focus played a night in Bath and Dan Brooks, and so like, Brooks Brothers were a really new name there as well.

Like really, I heard a few, like they probably had like two or three releases, four releases.

They were making some wicked stuff, but they were like bubbling.

Like, it is not a massive genre in many people's eyes, right? But it, it really pays the bills for thousands and thousands of people that you wouldn't...

And some people are living really well off of it, and that is because, you know, it doesn't matter if, you know, Chase & Status or Pendulum or Sub Focus has a hit, you know, in the charts every few years or whatever happens, and they have, like, one act that comes and does incredibly well and, but underneath that is, like, a whole, like, it's just hundreds of promoters throughout the world that are just hyper-focused on the success of the genre, and all they do is they, you know, [chuckles] they, they, they just, they just love it.

So you have this kind of, like, core, and I think that is kind of the, what I learned from that as opposed to hip-hop.

Now, hip-hop is like, two years ago, three years ago, it was like, everything's hip-hop.

Something has to give.

Sub Focus is part of a larger movement, though.

The ticket levy concept is gaining traction across Europe.

What do you think of that?

Right? It makes one wonder if this is just a way for major acts to ease their conscience while still profiting immensely.

True, but at least it's a start.

We need more artists like Sub Focus who are willing to use their platform for good.

Totally.

Hopefully they do after seeing that go live.

But good on Subfocus for doing that.
