Then you've also got Line of Duty's producers, World Productions as another, which is owned by ITV.

The other one, which is also absolutely bonkers, is STV, which is...

ITV's sort of regional split-off brand in Scotland, who have produced Blue Lights, which is apparently really good, and Criminal Record, which I don't think I've seen.

They have tendered what is quoted here as an audacious bid to move Doctor Who north of the English border and produce it in Scotland.

So, you know, maybe they should just try and base it off of what's going to be the least pain in the arse place to put a Doctor Who museum? Maybe we just move it to Manchester and then everybody's happy because it's right slap bang in the middle of everything.

So this is on top of, that's three bids technically.

So Jed Mercurio, we'll figure it out eventually, World Productions, STV, and then there are also two separate BBC studio labels that have tabled bids or are likely to table bids for Doctor Who.

For me, I kind of blame successive governments that haven't... taken on that like I slightly disagree

with that a little bit because when they launched the BBC Scotland channel there already were local channels in Scotland through STV and then some other independents as well and what happened when they launched BBC Scotland and then also started doing their own news programs and they did like the six and the nine and then obviously we have our seven o'clock thing apparently it was just news 24 hours on BBC Scotland but these programs came in and actually dissolved a lot of what we already had in place.

So there were some smaller terrestrial channels.

I remember if you were on Freeview Channel 8, you would get your local TV show and they were terrible quality, but at least it was just stuff happening in your area.

And then STV also had its local shows as well.

As we're in a ludicrous situation up here where, um, 'cause ITV have the rights to the England games.

So STV, which is a franchise of ITV, will show the England games in English language.

Uh, yet you can't get English language coverage of Scotland games [laughs] it's in Gaelic on BBC Alba.

So yeah, but the co-commentator always speaks English.

I think I remember when I did one of my few presenting slots on Satanta Sports doing the Dutch football I turned up and I think we got Stephen Craigan to do the studio but he thought he was doing the comms you know in the little sound booth so we had to nick John Mackay's jacket from upstairs at STV that was that's my showbiz story alright did you

It's not the only broadcasting that we've seen cut this year.

It was only in the summer that STV received Ofcom approval to axe its North of Scotland news programme, centring all its news operations in Glasgow.

But the BBC is also facing financial difficulties in Wales.

Like Scotland, cuts are being made to newsrooms and local radio programming.

All right, well, it's, it's, uh, called The Party, and it starts on ITV.

Um, this show, The Party, episode one is out this Sunday, 11th October on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player, and then the consecutive nights over weekends.
