Stuart Murdoch

So I'm just going to give you a thumbnail sketch of how they emerged.

The main protagonist is Stuart Murdoch and he had a pal called Stuart David.

And in 1994, they both enrolled at Stowe College's beatbox program for unemployed musicians in Glasgow.

And there, basically, Alan Rankin was the music professor.

And then they go through the process of recruiting some local musicians.

Stuart David, by the way, leaves the band relatively early.

But Stuart Murdoch, he recruits Stevie Jackson, still with the band, on guitar and vocals.

Chris Geddes on keys and Richard Colburn on drums.

Oh.

Like, Stuart Murdoch is really into God.

His thi- his thing is really sort of, it's almost like a Beach Boys, um, you know, level, like, actually all these songs are secretly hymns type of thing going on.

And even though, like, I'm not, I don't have that relationship to, um, God, [laughs]

And they went down really well, apparently.

And they got Stuart Murdoch from Bell and Sebastian to go and sing some of Lawrence's songs with them.

So I've heard a bit of that.

It sounds great.

Willy DeVille was born in 1950, fronted Mink DeVille, and also blended punk, soul, and Latin rhythms in New York.

Stuart Murdoch was born in 1968, fronted the Scottish indie pop collective Belle and Sebastian.

Candida Doyle was born in 1962, played keyboards for multi-platinum British Britpop band Pulp.

Abraham Mateo was born in 1998, achieved global fame as a Spanish pop singer-songwriter and producer.
