Stuart Milner-Barry

where everybody staying there is a member of Bletchley Park and are quite well-informed, fairly senior members of Bletchley Park who rub shoulders outside of work and have these little social bubbles in the local community where they can be more themselves than they would if they were in isolated billets.

So we know the shoulder of Mutton in Far Bletchley is one of the social hubs where Gordon Welshman and Stuart Milner-Barry, I think Hugh Alexander as well, all spend a lot of time.

It seems to be very good for the living conditions, for the morale of the staff that they can socialise in this way outside of work.

But before long, all of the commercial accommodation is filled up and the legislation is passed by the government to allow billeting in private houses.
