Strymon

Strymon

Damage Control Engineering began in 2004, founded by three next-level engineers who had grown tired of working for big companies. Tube-driven effects like the Glass Nexus and the original TimeLine delay followed soon after, quickly earning kudos for both their innovative analog circuits and killer DSP and sound design. Strymon officially began in 2009 with the launch of the all-analog OB.1 compressor pedal, and it’s been a whirlwind of activity ever since. Many Strymon products have redefined or even created entirely new market segments over the years, with products like BigSky, TimeLine, Mobius, Zuma, Flint, El Capistan and Volante becoming household names the world over. Our goal is to empower musicians with technology that feels effortless – with feature-rich products that are easy to use and sound amazing right out of the box, allowing you to make YOUR music quicker and better than ever. We sweat the little stuff so that you don’t have to, refining the products we make to ensure that you’ll be delighted to use them for as long as you’re making music. We hope you’ll stick around and keep an eye on us, as there is always more to come!www.strymon.net

JD ShortHOST
37:43
It's, it's the exact same vibe of that small box, you know, distortion sound.
JD ShortHOST
37:49
And it's like, is it, is it, again, is it going to replace your Strymon and, and all that? No, but yeah, Yeah,
Joe BrantonHOST

I really like those.
Dan PechacekHOST

Dan PechacekHOST
74:29
The Strymon pedals are great sounding, reliable devices.
Dan PechacekHOST
74:34
But just when one of the testimonials is like, I've stepped on this thing.
Dan PechacekHOST
74:37
It's like, these are stompboxes.
Dan PechacekHOST
75:48
Oh, my God.
Dan PechacekHOST
75:50
Dan's going to get canceled.
Dan PechacekHOST
75:51
Vemuran made at least one good pedal, and there's a Strymon commercial that is confusing to me.
Dan PechacekHOST
75:59
Oh, no.
Brian WamplerHOST
57:23
You need to be careful.
Brian WamplerHOST
57:26
So somebody was able to plug a Strymon pedal in.
Brian WamplerHOST
57:31
I have heard about this, yeah.
Brian WamplerHOST
57:33
Basically, we're able to use Claude to reproduce that onto another piece of hardware entirely.

Brie? One of the girls.
Kyle GarrettGUEST
53:30
The guy who makes the freaking Strymon pedals.
Kyle GarrettGUEST
53:34
Bree, the first thing that came to mind was, I think, the podcast, the murder podcast she listens to.
Kyle GarrettGUEST
53:42
We just had Gracie York on, and they were talking about being starstruck.
Andy OthlingHOST
44:38
... question for you.
Andy OthlingHOST
44:39
How- I've heard some people talk really, really highly of the Strymon NightSky because of the-

Andy OthlingHOST

... sequencer on it.
Barton McGuireGUEST
45:28
It's tough what you lead with because, like, I'm aware of that pedal, but I didn't know it had a sequencer.
Andy OthlingHOST
45:33
Yeah.
Barton McGuireGUEST
45:34
And, and there's, like, an, there's a whole ocean out there of reverb pedals, and Strymon, of course, like, they're, they're a big name in the reverb space.
Andy OthlingHOST
45:44
[laughs] Yeah.

Adam WakelingHOST

My understanding is that you both met your time at Line 6 originally.
Adam WakelingHOST
2:27
Angelo, I think you had a longer sprint at Line 6, and Terry, you obviously created the Strymon brand and ended up having the guys from, I think, Damage Control Engineering launch their product line under the Strymon brand, and then, you know, you spent a few years there ultimately wanting to go a bit more of an autonomous route, launching Meris with your wife, Gina, who's the creative director, and sort of reconnecting with Angelo, where you met him originally, obviously, at Line 6.
Adam WakelingHOST
2:51
Is that kind of a good quick summary?
Terry BurtonGUEST
2:53
Yeah, that's pretty, that's pretty much right.
Terry BurtonGUEST
2:54
Um, the Strymon thing was just me.
Terry BurtonGUEST
2:56
All the Damage Control key guys were from Line 6 too, and they moved on a little bit ahead of me, and then we teamed up together to do the Strymon brand after Gina and I had already kind of launched that by ourselves in the bedroom.
Terry BurtonGUEST
3:10
After that is when we, when I, when I bailed and asked Angelo to, to do Meris.
Adam WakelingHOST
3:16
Were you both kind of good friends from Line 6, or was it just kind of a, a working relationship back then?
KatHOST

Yeah.
AndrewHOST

Um, Strymon has a new pedal.
KatHOST

KatHOST

AndrewHOST
6:37
Yeah, so Strymon last year or earlier this year, they launched the A Series, which is analog.
KatHOST
