So one thing that is similar now is they also... like, we still have issues with house fires, but obviously they had a lot more issues because their houses were very timber forward, which-

... extremely flammable.

After the prosecution was done putting witnesses on the stand, it came time for the defense to present their case.

They argued that the fire had either been an accident or intentionally set by Todd himself.

Their reasoning was that Todd had already been connected to two previous house fires that were believed to be arson.

The defense argued that history suggested Todd was more likely to be responsible for this fire too.

They also argued that Linda hitting Todd with a van had been an accident.

They argued the prosecution failed to prove the fire had been intentionally set.

But even if jurors believed it was arson, the defense argued prosecutors still failed to prove Linda was the person responsible because, in their view, Todd was just as likely, if not more likely, to have started the fire.

The defense reminded the jurors that Todd had been connected to two previous house fires and argued the history made him the more probable suspect.

And by April 24th, 2020, the GoFundMe fundraiser appeared online, with Kahira Noelani listed as the beneficiary.

The campaign was titled Rebuilding Life After a House Fire.

The campaign raised $9,785 from 82 donors towards a $20,000 goal.

The campaign description stated that the fire had originated in a second-floor laundry area.

I think our SCBA has gotten, you know, our usage has gotten better and the technology has gotten better, but our understanding of how we're actually affected and how we can, you know, be affected by those, whether it's dermally, and we'll get into that, I'm sure, hasn't, right? It's lacked.

So we get folks who are willingly going into these hazmat calls, right? We call them house fires, but they are hazmat calls.

You know, they need to understand how to take care of themselves.

And hopefully we can do a little bit of justice to that here.
