Stroke Association

Uh, and I was very set in my ways that this is what I was gonna do.

I had all sort of meetings set up with the local branches of the, I don't know, Parkinson's UK, MS Society, Stroke Association, everything, just to go there and give talks and, you know, all that.

And then we went into lockdown, and all of these groups shut down, and that elderly population didn't know the online world that well at the time.

I didn't know.

Okay.

So one really helpful resource is one put out by Stroke Org UK, which is in England and Wales.

And they have a booklet that talks about how to make mostly health education, but really any information accessible for someone with aphasia.

So one thing to know is that the length and complexity of written language especially, but also spoken language really needs to be adjusted.

I looked for all the charities.

I was like, hmm, what would really resonate with me? And then it had stroke association there.

So I was like, oh, I could run for the stroke association.

How cool a story would that be? Like a stroke survivor is now told that he can't run or be very active and now he's going to run a marathon.

I was like, I could inspire other stroke survivors to want to do the same as well.

Because all my family had come to watch.

My friends had come to watch.

I was doing it for the Stroke Association.

There's lots of stalls here.

Cakes, the usual things, but I've also seen the Stroke Association stall.

What looks like children's clothing, knitting.
