Stride Place

I'm Ryan Simpson and here's another story that shaped us.

The story of Stride Place started with a group of people, hockey and opportunity.

It had been banded around for years that Portage La Prairie needed a better recreation facility.

When Ken Brennan ran for mayor, he made that the centerpiece of his campaign.

And I said, you know, if you're gonna come here in November, December after we announced it, but you're too late.

Despite the controversy, the project moved ahead.

Stride Place officially opened as the PCU Centre on February 27th, 2010.

And for Brennan, the moment the pressure finally lifted wasn't when construction started,
