Straz Center for the Performing Arts

The audience really appreciated it.

We had 17 or 19 sold-out performances and, uh, so, uh, Jobsite decided to bring it back in a bigger theater at Straz Center.

Mm-hmm.

Um-

One starts tonight at 6:30, and the other starts two hours later at 8:30.

And if you want to listen to some one-of-a-kind music tonight at the Straz Center, the duo Black Violin is performing as part of their B-Free tour.

They're a Fort Lauderdale duo.

Shout out Broward County for all my 954 peeps out there.

It is.

And you've got a hockey game on Saturday night, you've got a Straz Center Broadway, and guess what? You got a gala at the JW Marriott.

Yeah.

Where are you parking?

You got those wood seats, and you're banging your back.

[laughs]

You know, it's like if we would take it a little more seriously as a real transportation asset and modernize it and make it faster and more efficient and more comfortable and get the air conditioning cranked on, then I think it would be viable enough to where a husband and wife in nice clothes would get on it and go see a show at the Straz and then go to dinner or, or a commuter, right?

Yeah.

Hey, speaking of Broadway, we have somebody who's gonna come on and talk about seeing the tour of a show.

'Cause like we like to, to bring people on that get the opportunity 'cause, uh, the people, the, the fine folks over at Dr. Phillips and at Straz are, are, uh, uh, Straz in Tampa, Dr. Phillips in Orlando, they're very generous to let give us media passes to go to these shows.

So we like to bring, uh, s- whoever has the opportunity to go see it onto this podcast to talk about it, uh, in great detail, where they get to mention, you know, uh, like who was in it and what was so great about it.

[chuckles] So we have joining us again, it's been a while, we have Melanie Plaza, the Watermark Central Florida Bureau Chief and first-time "Hamilton" seer.

It'll have views of the Riverwalk and the, the waterfront itself.

It'll be, if your listeners can picture where that arts and entertainment residences tower is, it's behind the John Germany Library, adjacent to the Straz Center, so it's in that northern nook of downtown before you sort of transition into the Armature Works area.

And real quick, are they going for, you know, high-end steaks? Are they looking to become, you know, one of the top steakhouses in the area? Or is this really, it's, it's the environment, it's the experience that they're pushing?

I think this'll be a pretty high-end experience-

They're a really popular ensemble.

Tonight, they'll be in Tampa at the Straz Center.

Violinist Rachel Gray says the popularity of that show has really pumped up their national profile.

Because of Bridgerton and the music that we were already making, we're showing...
